Oftentimes I take an image through so many different changes that I literally forget the steps that it took to create it.
In many ways, this is a good thing. I've seen a lot of artists who've developed a particular technique and created so many images in that style that they becomes difficult for them to shake it. It's like the movie or TV star who becomes so famous for a particular role that it becomes difficult for them to find work in the future.
I see Picasso as the essential artist with this belief. Always changing, always something new. The next Picasso could be very different from the last one. No typecasting here.
A friend of my once said that my work didn't have a single, coherent style. I took that as a compliment.
